COMIC BOOK YETI THIS WEEK: Feb 11-17
We interviewed the Punisher and some other cool stuff happened.
Hey friends,
To kick this thing off let me just say ANDREW GOT TO INTERVIEW THE PUNISHER! I’m slightly annoyed I was completely covered up and couldn’t cover this one and he does such a great job coming up with thoughtful questions, don’t miss this one on YouTube.
The Following Interview with Thomas Jane and Mike Carey
Beyond that as an Eagles fan last night was an ass whooping. I don’t get drawn in that much to American football these days after my son had a tragic back injury that curtailed what looked to be a promising football (soccer) career. He did rehab with several MLB and NFL players, don’t ask me how that somehow worked out, and I got to experience first hand the grueling and tragic realities of professional sports in a very tangible way so now it’s just hard for me to watch but Kendrick was really what sucked me in and as a lifelong Eagles fan, I’ll take the W and getting to watch such a positive expression of Black culture live in everyone’s face after the last few weeks put a smile on my face. Sorry Chiefs fans. But, this is supposed to be a comics diversion for you so herein are a few other highlights from all things Yeti over the past week.
ON THE PODCAST
Ron Marz Interview
Today's guest on the Cryptid Creator Corner needs no introduction, but here goes anyway. Among others, he's written for Marvel (Silver Surfer), DC (Green Lantern), Dynamite, Valiant, Image, Dark Horse, and CrossGen. He's written Batman/Aliens, DC versus Marvel, Green Lantern versus Aliens, and the Amalgam Comic Doctor StrangeFate. He wrote Hal Jordan becoming a villain, basically started the "Women in Refrigerators" trope, and withstood the H.E.A.T. of a mid-90s campaign to have him fired from writing DC Comics. It's Ron Marz! Ron joins Jimmy to talk about his long career in comics, the stories he likes to tell, and which characters he still hopes to tackle. Ron talks about some of his experiences attending conventions all over the World and why he enjoys them. This is a wide-ranging conversation with one of the greats.
Tony Parker Interview - Medusa
Bouncer union unit! To the best of my knowledge, this is the second time we've hosted a former bouncer on the show. It's not something I normally get to discuss and definitely the first time I've ever gotten to ask the question, "What was your Marvel bouncer personality?" But this isn't a podcast about bouncing, it's actually all about one of my favorite graphic novels of 2024, it's just that bouncing actually can be applied to the book. That book is Medusa from Dark Horse Comics created by writer/illustrator Tony Parker who is today's show guest. If you aren't yet familiar with the project, it's one of the most creative reimaginings of Greek mythology I've ever seen. Show topics include the unique character designs of a silent protagonist, collaborating with colorist extraordinaire Tamra Bonvillain, and the use of pacing and kinesics in storytelling which is something I've been increasingly mindful of in the medium.

YETI SIGHTINGS
Brought to you by Ian Mondrick
Crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter are the lifeblood of indie comics, and have long been the breeding grounds of tomorrow’s mainstream powerhouses. The Yeti has always been an outlet dedicated to fostering the growth behind these voices. With that in mind, please take a moment to preview the following campaigns, and support them in any way you can.
Crit One #3
Magic and mayhem come together in this collection of comics, art, and RPGs inspired by epic fails.
Presented by members of the Comic Jam, CRIT ONE 3 is a 28-page, A5-sized zine of fantasy comics, art, and an ORIGINAL RPG inspired by those moments where things didn't go quite as planned for the intrepid heroes (or villains, we don't judge).
Creative Teams: Too many to list here! Check out the campaign page or their medium page!
Con Adventurers
Follow a dragon and a cat as they explore a geek convention together in this hard enamel pin collection.
No matter what your fandom is, no matter the world or the character or the activity, the excitement and joy we share when we build real connections through it always sparkles. That connection carries over into gathering spaces like conventions, and it's what we're here to celebrate.
This hard enamel pin series follows two friends - a cat and a dragon - as they explore a convention together. From picking up their badges to remembering to hydrate, this adventuring duo has so much to see and do!
Get My Head Together
A digital grab bag of first issues and an all new memoir comic
From Richard on his campaign page: This is a campaign for two things. One is a way to structure my new graphic novel that explores the drive to make comics and never stop moving. The other is to offer new readers a cheap way to dip their toe into my massive body of work from the past two years.

Even More Modern Affirmation Enamel Pins
Remind yourself that life is weird and you're doing your best with these adorable and relatable Enamel Pins!
Being a functioning human is hard and sometimes you need to some reassurance—but the old poster of the kitten hanging from a tree branch just doesn’t inspire you anymore…
We need something better, something new, that speaks to the modern experience of living in a late-stage-capitalist hellscape and stealing back every bit of joy you can. We need some modern affirmations!

Bug Wars from Image Comics
Slade Slaymaker is a kid from Alabama suddenly lost in a vicious world beyond his imagining, a world of marauding ant armies, spellcasting spider witches, and beetle-riding barbarians. A kingdom of tiny but deadly warriors hidden in his own backyard. The same world that saw his father eaten alive by insects now plunges young Slade into the middle of a brutal Bug War to decide the fate of his family.
Sure, a world populated by oversized bugs is straight out of a nightmare for many folks but that’s pretty much the point and Slade Slaymaker sounds like a new rising star in the WWE so we’re hype for this new fantasy series written by Jason Aaron that is absolutely giving me fantasy version of Starship Troopers vibes only with more family drama and less statement about the military industrial complex.

GAME SPOTLIGHT
With my Dungeons & Dragons group restarting after almost two years, I decided to stay on theme and put the spotlight on Set a Watch, a cooperative game that fleshes out when the adventuring party takes a long rest. Four adventures, each with their own abilities and dice to roll, make camp for the night. One of the players performs camp actions that consist of adding wood to the fire so you can see more creatures coming your way or healing the other players. The rest of the party use their attacks, spells and abilities to beat back the creatures that go bump in the night. If Todd Walsh and Mike Gnade of Rock Manor Games played D&D, I would assume they were the type of Dungeon Master that likes to punish their players, because this game is tough. The creatures are relentless and there is never enough actions or the proper dice rolls to get done what you need.
PUBLISHER SPOTLIGHT
Rock Manor Games is a smaller independent publisher out of my neck of the woods, Wilmington, Delaware. I’ve played multiple games of theirs and enjoy them immensely. Seas of Havoc, Maximum Apocalypse and Lawyer Up, really put on display the variety of themes and mechanics exhibited in their games. I’ve attended their PAX Unplugged demos the past three years and the games coming out really get me excited. StarDriven: Gateway is next up, coming to KickStarter soon.
